World Press Photo 2012

World Press Photo, an annual favourite on Krakow’s exhibition circuit, returns to Bunkier Sztuki this November for its 2012 edition. Visitors will be treated to huge blow-ups of the winning photos in the gilt-edged competition displayed in Bunkier’s roomy exhibition spaces.

This is the 15th edition of World Press Photo to grace Bunkier Sztuki.

The time period covered by the 2012 competition was particularly rich in dramatic, and photogenic, events – including the Japanese tsunami and the rash of revolutions across the Muslim world.

The World Press Photo of the Year award went to Spanish photographer Samuel Aranda for his image of a Yemeni woman, dressed in pitch-black hijab, cradling her near-naked adult son, the victim of tear gas.

World Press Photo 2012 will run from November 10 to December 7 and is presented in cooperation with the Krakow Festival Office. See Bunkier Sztuki’s website for details.
