Criminals Blow Up ATM in Gdańsk

Two men have been taken into custody by Polish police in Gdańsk, after blowing up a cash point and attempting to steal the money found inside it. Both men have been arrested, but not before four policemen and one support officer were run over by one of the criminals as he tried to escape the scene.

In order to stop the mobilised robber, police reverted to opening fire on the car, and he quickly gave up his effort to escape. The other criminal was tackled by a law enforcement officer not long after the robbery.

This is one of many similar crimes that have recently taken place around the central and western parts of the country, however this is the first arrest of its kind, and although the identities of the two thieves have not yet been released, it is already thought that they are part of an organised criminal gang, based in Western Europe.
