World War II Commemoration Events in Krakow
As the world’s eyes turn to Westerplatte, those in Krakow who would like to commemorate today’s 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War can do so right in the city. Below, we’ve listed some of the events taking place to remember this momentous day.
11.45: Rakowicki Cemetery, at the “Armia Krakow” monument – “Tribute to the heroes of 1939”
13:00: Cardinal Dziwisz leads mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral
14.30: Tributes at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Plac Matejki
16:45: Veterans receive commemorative medals on Market Square
