Anniversary of Piłsudski’s death

On Sunday a ceremony took place at Krakow’s Wawel castle to commemorate the 81st anniversary of Piłsudski’s death. Piłsudski is an important figure in Poland for being a symbol of Polish independence; so much so speaking about him was barred by the communist regime. He died on May 12th 1935.

A special mass took place at the castle, followed by participants laying down flowers around his crypt. Local official Józef Pilch was also in attendance. [Radio Krakow]

Scuba diver accident at Zakrzówek

During a series of scuba diving exercises at Zakrzówek one of the participants fell victim of a tragic accident. While under water instructors lost contact with the man and shortly after two emergency teams arrived as well as local police. The man was found however attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful.
