A new campaign promoting the celebrations for Krakow?s 750th anniversary was launched on May 4.As part of the campaign, the symbols of other cities — Warsaw’s Mermaid, Gdansk?s Neptune and Torun?s Copernicus — are being used to invite visitors to the celebrations. The heart of the festivities will take place from June 1-June 10.

“Ghetto” — Distinguishing marks

?Worldwide trends, top European photographers, nearly 50 exhibitions?? — This is how Photomonth 2007 in Krakow is being promoted. The core of the program, though, revolves around the works of a dozen-or-so individual exhibitions displayed as part of the ?Distinguishing Marks? segment. These photographs deal with problems of identity and individuality and emphasize the danger of attempting to reach objectivity. The exhibitions include works by such outstanding European photographers as Martin Parr, Anders Petersen, Oliver Sieber, Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin.

Art farmers present political improvisations

?Farma sztuki (Farm of Art)? is a virtual cooperative of artists and curators. During the ?Super Concept Market,? professional art was presented that is light and suitable for street markets. The major themes at the stall were SEX and POLITICS — two universal subjects. It was great fun. We sold all the portraits of the Kaczynski brothers; Roman Giertych, to our surprise, was much less popular. By presenting ?light art,? we want to promote artists connected with our gallery and propagate artistic production.?
