Joe Cocker, the British artist recognized by his characteristic hoarseness, will perform on Monday, August 13, at the WKS Wawel Stadium.
The singer seems to be spoiling the Polish audience, as the Krakow performance will be one of five to take place in the country this year. The vocalist has already visited Poznan in June, will sing in Gdynia on August 14, and will follow with two end of the year concerts ? Katowice in November and Warsaw in December. The Poznan concert proved that though Cocker is 63 years old, has recorded 26 albums and has overcome alcohol and drug addiction in the early 1970s, he is still full of vigor and charisma, putting his whole heart into each performance. The last show included his most famous songs, like "You Are So Beautiful," "Unchain My Heart," "You Can Leave Your Hat On," or the famous Beatles cover "With a Little Help from My Friends,? plus nearly his entire latest album, the 2007 "Hymn for My Soul." The record proves, yet again, that regardless of changing trends Cocker stays faithful to his rhythm'n'blues roots. Concert organizers said that the artist is coming to Krakow a day early for a quick tour of the city, so autograph seekers should also keep their eyes open on Sunday. Concert tickets (110-250 zloty) can be purchased online at www.eventim.pl or www.ticketonline.pl. You can also check http://klb-music.pl/ for the list of stores around Krakow.
The concert starts at 20:00 at WKS Wawel Stadium on ul. Podchorazych, 3. Any tram (though no buses) going in the direction of Bronowice or Bronowice Nowe will get you there (get off at Glowackiego stop).
