Academy 30 Plus is an innovative study program offered through the Jagiellonian University Foundation and designed by prospective students.
Foundation representatives surveyed thirty-somethings via email on key questions concerning study interests, availability to attend lectures and preferred lecturers. This information was then collated and now forms the Academy 30 Plus study program.Areas of study offered include culture, arts, social science, and mathematics. Culture and art were the most popular areas of interest amongst survey respondents and feature predominately in the study program.
The autumn program has the distinguished historian of Polish literature, Franciszek Ziejka, lecturing on Polish playwright Stanislaw Wyspianski. There are also lectures on film directors Krzysztof Krauze, best known for his films "My Nikifor" and "Debt," and Pedro Almodovar, whose films include "Hable con Ella/Talk to Her" and "Volver." Polish actor Jerzy Stuhr is also scheduled to make an appearance in January.
Currently only offered in Polish, Academy 30 Plus is seen as an alternative to postgraduate studies for mature students with the benefit of flexible attendance and affordability at only 20 zloty per lecture.
