Renovations at the Warsaw Airport

Runway overhaul transfers some flights to Krakow
During the first three weekends of September, the Fryderyk Chopin Airport in Warsaw will be operating at severely reduced capacity due to renovations. That is bad news for Warsaw, but good news for Krakow, which will take over some of the regular flights out of Warsaw, along with airports in Gdańsk, Rzerszów, and Katowice.
Perhaps most significantly for Americans visiting or living in Krakow, there will be a direct Krakow-New York City connection from LOT Airlines until the end of August. Meanwhile, the Łódź and Katowice airports will take over the operation of charter flights.
During the 4, 5, 11, and 18th of September, the main runways of the Warsaw Airport will be undergoing renovations. Flight schedules will also be affected on the days preceding and immediately following renovation days, and the changes will affect both domestic and international flights, and will cause the cancellation of all transatlantic flights for the duration of the renovations.
