Polish journalists take home top prizes

Polish journalists-to-be at MyScience, an all-European workshop program for young journalists, came home with tales of success. Two of the four winners of the MyScience workshop contest are Polish.

Articles by Iza Romanowska, an archeologist working on her PhD in Great Britain and Graźyna Zawada, a freelance journalist and contributor to the Krakow Post, amongst other publications, have been awarded as the best pieces of the MyScience workshop, an EU-funded program supporting young journalists learning about European research and sciences.

In addition, 16 Poles made up the biggest group of 85 representatives from 20 European countries, who spent a week at six workshops in science laboratories all over Europe to take a closer look to the projects carried out there and learn how to report them to a wider public.

“Apart from the personal successes of my Polish colleagues, I consider MyScience a big success for the country,” says Jan Dąbkowski from the Polish Young Journalists’ Association, a co-organizer of the workshop. “Poland is not yet well-known within the circle of international science journalists, and we made a very good impression on the entire academic society of the European Academy of Sciences, the leader of the project,” Dąbkowski added.
