Obama Administration to review all options
Though the issue has been on the table for some time, particularly following the election of Barack Obama to the office of U.S. president, a decision on the much-debated missile shield project may finally be made next month.
As early as next month, the Obama Administration may decide whether it will stick to the agreement, signed in August 2008, for the placement of a U.S. missile defence base on Polish soil. The American president has stated that the plan needs to be reviewed for viability and costs before a decision is made.
Today, Stanisław Komorowski from the Ministry of National Defence told Reuters "We expect to learn the results of the U.S. review in September".
Meanwhile, this week the aviation company Boeing revealed a new anti-missile system that includes mobile interceptors, rather than fixed bases in Central Europe as the previous plan proposes.
