Poland second on list of recession-minded destinations

With constant talk about the recession in the news, it's obvious that many Americans are feeling the pain caused by the economic downturn. With summer looming and tighter budgets for holiday plans, American news programme ABC News has compiled a list of recession-friendly vacation spots for Americans, with Poland coming in at number two.

The article, titled "The Cheapest Countries for Travel," puts Hungary at the number one spot, though it states that Poland "offers nearly identical perks" compared with Hungary. However, the main reason for Poland's attractiveness for recession-conscious budgets is the złoty's exchange rate: "The dollar has gained a full 50% on Poland's zloty, meaning that $100 can now get you a $150 hotel room in Warsaw," the article states.
