Stabbing Death at Krakow Night Club

Details have emerged of a fatal stabbing that took place at the Moulin Rouge nightclub in Krakow last Friday night.

The victim was 36-year-old Paweł Pytliński, a former judo champion with the TS Wisła sports club.

The attack took place at the nightclub on ul. Pilotów in the early hours of August 31. Witnesses have described an argument between Pytliński and another man, who then struck out with a knife

Paramedics worked to save the victim for over an hour, but he died in the club.

Police spokesperson, Katarzyna Padło, said that the results of the post-mortem had not yet been released.

TS Wisła coach, Artur Kłys, said he was shocked to lose a colleague that he had personally admired.

Pytliński took second place in the national Judo championships in 2006 (100kg category) and was part of team that won silver in national championships in 2009 – the year he retired from competitive sport.

Krakow’s police detained six people for questioning, though some of these have since been released, according to the public prosecutor.
