Massive Focus Park opens in Gliwice

At 110-meters tall, the tower is also the world’s highest wooden structure. With the addition of Focus Park, Gliwice will also boast the largest shopping center in the region. Adaptation of existing structures to instill character into their development projects, as in the shopping center’s integration of a disused brewery into its design, which was completed this year, is a trademark of Parkridge Retail.

Fusing aspects of the old Gliwice foundry into the shopping center’s contemporary design “gives our buildings a unique character” says Agnieszka Drucis, marketing manager for Parkridge Retail.Designers from the architectural company Mofo plan to feature a multi-colored glass roof, generating a unique atmosphere for the Gliwice center says Gazeta Wyborcza.

The center will cover 140,000 square meters over two levels, comprising 220 shops and a multi-screen cinema with parking for 1,600 cars. The master plan also includes a new bus station, freeing up the Piast Square for local residents and shoppers to enjoy.Focus Park Gliwice is expected to open in 2010 and is one of seven shopping center developments planned by Parkridge Retail in Poland. Focus Park Rybnic is the first of these to be completed.
