Jagiellonian University offers new support

Every student at Jagiellonian University in Krakow who completes a questionnaire evaluating the university staff, lectures and services will have a chance to get a 500 zloty reward.

For the first time the questionnaire can be completed via the Internet on the university’s web site. The student should be registered at USOS web service so that he or she can take part in the online survey. Student responses are kept confidential. All completed questionnaires will be entered into a prize drawing. Forty students will receive a 500 zloty gift.

University officials expect to receive an invaluable and reliable survey which will help to enhance the quality of education. The university would like to be a school measuring up to the students’ expectations and to receive good marks for its academic standing.

If the survey gets a good response, this form of motivating studies will be continued. A special budget already has been reserved. Offering rewards for surveys has become very popular in European universities. Jagiellonian University was the first in Poland to introduce this way of motivating students. Before, it was very difficult to acquire the completed questionnaires. Meanwhile, a similar system of evaluating high schools has been requested by the European Charter for Researchers.
