Phds In Cracovian Studies

The Jagiellonian University and the Historical Museum of Krakow are to launch post-grad studies about Krakow.

The two-semester Cracovian Studies course is aimed at teachers, tour guides, and museologists but will be open to all M.A. graduates.

Leading academics from the Historical Institute of the Jagiellonian University, the Archeological Museum of Krakow and the Historical Museum of Krakow will lecture on many aspects of Krakow, including its history, scientific challenges, art and literature, archeology, ethnography and law. Participants will also be able to handle rare items in the collections of local museums.

“No other city in Poland can offer a course as good as ours. We expect major interest in it when we launch in February 2012,” said Piotr Hapanowicz, a custodian at the Historical Museum of Krakow.

Warsaw and Gdańsk are the only other cities in Poland that offer similar studies.
