Kubica Injured in Rally Smash

Polish FI sensation Robert Kubica has suffered “serious injuries” while taking part in the Ronde di Andora rally in Italy, reports Italian news agency ANSA.

The 26-year-old driver, who regularly takes part in rallies, was reportedly injured when his car left the road and struck a wall some 4 kilometres into the course on Sunday.

Kubica was extracted from his car and airlifted by helicopter to a local hospital. He was said to be conscious and the extent of his injuries were not conformed. Kubica’s co-driver Jakub Gerber was unhurt.

Kubica had been preparing for the start of the 62nd Formula One season, which begins in Bahrain on 13 March.
