Deal to Promote Traditional Małopolska Foods

Małopolska’s government has signed a deal with supermarket chain Alma to promote the region’s unique foods across Poland.

Prądnicki bread, Tatra goat’s cheese and carp from Zator are just some of the products that will be available in every Alma shop under the Małopolski Smak (Taste of Małopolska) brand by the end of the year

Traditional recipes, organic agricultural methods will be encouraged and seasonal producers will get the opportunity to promote their products in every region of Poland.

The deal was signed at a ceremony held in the gardens of Krakow’s Archaeological Museum attended by Marek Sowa, the Marshal of Małopolska, Wojciech Kozak, president of the Traditional Products Council, and Jerzy Mazgaj, president of Alma Market S.A.

In a press release, Alma said that one of the main goals of this deal was to promote the region’s culinary heritage and support Małopolska’s food producers.

There are currently 11 food products from the Małopolska region recognised and protected by European Union laws but another 100 products will be on show at the annual Małopolski Festiwal Smaku (Taste of Małopolska Festival), and many of these products will be in Alma stores by December.

The Małopolski Festiwal Smaku will take place in Krakow over August 23–25 and, simultaneously, in Oświęcim, Tarnów, Nowy Sącz, Nowy Targ and Miechów.
