Region: Whirlwind Tour of Hungary

Prince Charles received the Grand Cross of the Order of the Hungarian Republic from President László Sólyom shortly after arriving in Hungary last Wednesday on an official visit. Speaking before tucking into a dinner hosted in his honour, Charles described his host as a “kindred spirit” because of Sólyom’s enthusiasm for environmental issues. “I feel I have a somewhat special relationship with Hungary, since I am proud to be one thirty-second Hungarian myself, through my great-great-great-grandmother Countess Rhedey,” Charles said at the event, referring to his 19th century Transylvanian ancestor…
