Genesis turns it on again at Silesian Stadium

Legendary British rock group Genesis will perform on the Silesian Stadium in Chorzow on Thursday, June 21. This appearance will be part of the ?Turn it on Again Tour,? the band?s first following a 9-year hiatus.
Genesis will comprise the talents of Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks. They will be accompanied by stage musicians Chester Thompson and Daryl Stuermer. This line-up, their most commercially successful, is responsible for the group?s pop-rock style of the late 1970s. This is the style most usually associated with the band, though it is quite different from the original progressive rock directions introduced by Peter Gabriel at the band?s inception back in 1967.
The band plans an over two-hour overview of their entire repertoire, including such hits as ?Carpet Crawlers,? ?No Son of Mine,? ?Mama? and ?I can?t dance.?
Now, 40 years after the band was originally formed and after a nine-year break following the unsuccessful ?Calling All Stations? album and the tour of 1997-1998 with vocalist Ray Wilson (Collins left the band in 1996), Genesis decides to tour big.
The band will perform mostly in giant stadiums, with the European part of the tour concluding in Circus Maximus in Rome.
The Polish concert will be no different, as the Silesian Stadium in Chorzow, the biggest arena in the country, has been booked for the evening.
Special stages, 70 meters wide and 28 meters high, were constructed for the event. They are equipped with three screens, the largest consisting of 90 mln LEDs, and 470 moving spotlights. This, along with the pyrotechnic effects prepared by the team that usually works with Rammstein, promises a breathtaking visual experience.
The tickets cost from 110 to 165 zloty and can be bought via the organizer?s internet site: www.livenation.pl, or www.ticketpro.pl, or at TicketPro?s partner stores. Gates open at 16:30 and Genesis will begin their performance at 20:30.
To get to Chorzow, you must first go to Katowice either by car or by train. In the latter case, take either a taxi or streetcar line 11 to Chebzie Petla. The whole journey by train and bus should take no longer than two hours, while by car the trip should be even shorter. Genesis will travel about 75,000 kilometers during this tour, which makes Chorzow seem just a step away.
