Polanski’s Victim Wants Charges Dismissed

Samantha Geimer’s lawyers are trying to get the charges against Roman Polanski to be dropped.

They claim that the 45-year-old Geimer has been harassed by the media since Polanski’s arrest in September and her health is suffering as a result. She has received nearly 500 telephone calls in the last month, including from the Larry King and Oprah shows, and nearly every other major television station and newspaper.

The papers, submitted by Geimer’s lawyers to a district court in California, also state, “The pursuit has caused her performance at her job to be interfered with and has caused the understandable displeasure of her employer and the real possibility that Samantha could lose her job.”

The papers also state that Polanski had to flee the U.S. because of a “corrupt” judge, and that, “No matter what his crime, Polanski was entitled to be treated fairly; he was not.” The final remark is, “Leave her alone.”

Last week the U.S. formally requested for Polanski’s extradition, and is now waiting for Switzerland’s reply.
