Cutting Off the Gas?

The Economic Forum in Krynica has kicked off, and one of the first items on the agenda involved a possible gas shortage for Poland if no deal is reached between Warsaw and Moscow.

Yesterday, Deputy Treasury Minister Mikolaj Budzanowski told reporters that this winter, “Poland may be 700 to 800 million cubic metres short”. Polish companies have been in talks with the Russian state-controlled chemical companies, but no concrete deals have been reached yet.

Budzanowski concluded that “in October we must reach some kind of an agreement”.
