There is still no official answer on who will provide the special road signs needed for the upcoming World Youth Day. With the event next month, the city has just rejected another contractor for the project. The estimated budget by most companies for this is 5 million PLN, whereas ZIKiT is only willing on paying 2 million PLN for it, leading to the delay. [LoveKrakow]

City to buy power plant

Krakow is attempting to purchase the electric power plant in Łęgu. The plant is currently owned and run by the French company EDF, which wants to sell the plant. While no official offers have been made, city officials getting ready for talks with EDF.

Can the city afford to buy and run the plant, though? Mayor Jacek Majchrowski stated that the plan is a city institution, which should belong to the city. “I think that the sale of the plant could be a mistake, however I can not completely determine, since I haven’t analyzed the earlier situation.” [LoveKrakow]
