WYD: Anti-terrorism drills

Police officers and special security forces have started anti-terrorism drills in preparation for July’s World Youth Day. Over 100 people took part on Friday in the emergency scenario at the Stefana Żeromskiego Specialist Hospital. The drill included a staged bus crash in which 150 people were injured, followed by a staged attack at the aforementioned hospital. [LoveKrakow]

Wajda honored for contributions

Celebrated filmmaker Andrzej Wajda was awarded the Gold Medal for contributions to Lesser Poland this past Friday. The event was part of Lesser Poland Day which took place at the castle in Nowy Wiśniczu. During the event silver and bronze medals were also handed out. The remaining medals were accepted by Jan Burkat, Stanisław Mazur and Mariusz Parlicki. [Onet]
