New buses coming soon

Soon you will probably see new buses in Krakow. The city has just received over 110 million PLN from the European Union to buy 107 new ecological buses before World Youth Day. The first buses will be on the streets of Krakow by the end of June. The entire project will cost 164 million, with a large chunk provided by the European Union. [Radio Krakow]

WYD: volunteers needed

In July over two million people will come to Krakow for World Youth Day. Organizers for the July event are still looking for 7-8 thousand volunteers for the event. The volunteer program has been critiqued by some over the fact that those who wish to help out have to pay a fee for doing so. Of the volunteer ‘packages’, the cheapest one runs at 50 PLN (includes transport, insurance, and a backpack) while the most expensive option runs at 300 PLN.
