Krakow News 20 March 2016: Controversial Duda post / Fire in Bochnia / annual Spring Marathon
Wentzl-Duda clash on Facebook
The co-owner of the building that houses the Main Square hotel and restaurant Wentzl took to Facebook to speak out against president Andrzej Duda. Duda met with US senators in the restaurant, after which the owner spoke out against the president’s government’s changes to the constitution and her alliance with KOD (the Committee for the Defense of Democracy). Wentlz has since distanced themselves from the event stating that the opinions of the commenter do not reflect their own. [TVN24]
Fire in Bochnia
On Sunday morning a fire broke out at a residential home in Wola Nieszkowskiej, Bochnia. The fire started inside the building and one person is reported to have been injured in the incident, however they are in stable condition. Firefighters searched for another person in the building, but unknown to them the other person had left the building prior to the fire. [Onet]
Marathon kicks off spring
Thousands ran through the streets of Krakow on Sunday. The marathon kicked off the start of the jogging season in Krakow, this year marked the 13th year since the marathon’s start in 2003.
Money raised will be allocated to the Foundation for Cardiac Surgery Children Support Schola Cordias (Fundacje Wspierania Kardiochirurgii dziecięcej Schola Cordias). The foundation will use the money raised to purchase equipment for those in need. [Love Krakow]
It would be helpful to know whether the “co-owner” has 0.1% ownership in the restaurant or 99%. It would also be helpful to know the background of this person. Finally, one might want to know what horrible obscenities that person and Duda exchanged on facebook – otherwise this does not amount to much of an article.
