Streets to be closed during World Youth Day
Nearly 2,000 new road signs will be needed during the World Youth Days as part of their plans to control traffic in the city during the event. The city is currently looking for a company to make new maps for the event as well as one to make the new signs. Man arrested in connection to assault crimes
Today police stopped a 57-year old man connected to a series of brutal assaults and robberies against older women. The culprit was apprehended in Krakow, while the crimes were committed just outside the city. The man was previously in jail for 5 years and was also wanted for other crimes in Gorlicach. [Onet]
“One Billion Rising” demonstration
Yesterday, the annual event against sexual violence against women and girls took place all over the world. This year was the demonstration’s third anniversary in Krakow where those against sexual violence give speeches, dance and sing. The event is meant to raise awareness and is coordinated by the organization Feminoteka. [Radio Krakow]
